Lefkosia

The annual trip abroad took place between the 13th –18th of June 2023 for PASCAL Private English School Lefkosia Year 3 pupils who visited Prague where they explored cultural, recreational, and educational aspects of this beautiful city and the surrounding areas accompanied by their teachers Ms. Ioanna Monoyiou, Ms. Elena Manoli, Ms. Panayiota Panteli and Ms. Melanie Athanasiou.
Their trip included visits to Prague Castle, the medieval clock, and the baroque church of St. Nicholas where they were truly impressed by the unmatched architecture. They also combined walking tours of the medieval city, as well as a cruise on the Vltava River, enabling them to admire the city from different perspectives. One of their evening strolls led them to the Wow Theatre where they watched a Black Theatre show comprising dance, song, and pantomime which was a truly novel experience for them.
In addition, they visited the cities of Karlovy Vary, the city of baths in West Bohemia, where they walked along the same streets that Goethe, Beethoven, and Bach had also once walked! Before returning home they also visited Český Krumlov, otherwise known as ‘diamond city,’ where they admired the Renaissance-style buildings, churches, and narrow streets, listed as UNESCO Cultural Monuments.
The trip was an amazing learning and bonding experience for our pupils as they formed new, closer friendships with each other whilst learning about and absorbing a new culture at the same time. They were able to see and appreciate things they could never experience in their home country and learned invaluable communicative and collaborative skills through this shared experience, away from home, which will surely prove instrumental in their development into young adults.
