November 2023

‘Rent a Book and do Good’ was the motto of PASCAL Primary School Lemesos on Wednesday 15 November.

The event was in line with the concept of our kindness week that unravelled between 13 and 17 November at our Primary School.

The aim of the event was to instill in pupils a love for reading while simultaneously promoting the sense of kindness and sharing in the wider community.

Pupils were encouraged to share their books with their classmates. Each pupil chose his or her book of preference and ‘rented’ it for one period by making a small donation to the FUNraising charity foundation.  Each book was accompanied by a small written activity.

FUNraising’s main aim is to help families and children who are in need of basic materials and supplies in all aspects of their lives. More specifically, the aid provided by the foundation includes:

• Scholarships for students through the “Morfosis” FUNraising fund

• Supporting children on the autism spectrum through the Fundraising Blue fund

• Afternoon classes & preparation for university studies

• Purchase of clothing and footwear

• Purchase of food and other necessities

• Medical aid

• Various other smaller needs

In the past 10 years, the foundation has offered scholarships to students. During the school year 2021/2022 alone, FUNraising managed to give scholarships of over €40.000. With this amount, the foundation was able to financially support 26 students.

Congratulations to our pupils who managed to raise 210 EUR and for the wonderful work they produced while reading their books.
