The WWF Global Challenge took place between 7th -13th October. Our school is only one of six schools worldwide that has qualified for the international finale of the Wild Wisdom Global Challenge which will be held in December.

This years’ topic was the conservation of bird species. Pupils learned about their unique biology and characteristics, habitats, migration, and mating rituals as well as the impact of human activities on their survival. This competition gave the opportunity to our pupils to be educated about these remarkable creatures and the importance of preserving biodiversity.

WWF India is hosting the competition and the top two students that will represent our school in the finals as they have accumulated the most points are Daniel Ariasman (3B) and Charalambos Charalambous (3B).

Charalambos Charalambous said: “From the WWF competition I have learned many things about birds. The new information about birds was very interesting. One interesting fact I learned is that the peregrine falcon is the fastest bird in the world.”

Daniel Ariansman explained: “I have learned a lot of things about birds in the WWF competition. Two interesting facts are that an owl can rotate its head and a group of crows are called a ‘murder’. “

Ms. Eleni Odysseos emphasized that: “The beauty of science is that there is always something new to discover. This competition gave the opportunity to our pupils to discover the incredible adaptations of different species of birds and their vital role in our ecosystems”.

Congratulations to our pupils and their science teacher, Ms. Eleni Odysseos for her guidance and support and for her enthusiasm and persistence. As the pupils themselves said, they wouldn’t have done it without the support of their teacher.
