PASCAL Private English School Lefkosia pupils attended the Cambridge University Model United Nations Conference which took place on the Cambridge University campus between the 21st and 23rd of September 2023.
Our team of delegates comprised Year 5 pupils Anastasios Panayiotou, Constantinos Constantinides, Adriano Theophanous, Michaella Nicolaou, Alexandra Ioannou, and Stephanie Kanna, and Year 6 pupils Christian Lavett, Despina Ignatiou, Neno Maisuradze, Athena Karayianni, Sofia Theodorou and Sofoclis Nicolaou, who were accompanied by their teacher-mentors Ms. Maria Karolidou and Mr. Nemanja Paskulov.
The trip combined the MUN event with a two-day touring experience of picturesque Cambridge, walking through the local area, punting on the river Cam, a classical music concert, and tasting the local cuisine.
The three-day Model United Nations event comprised teambuilding activities, debates, resolution writing, and a formal dinner, all in and around the beautiful premises of Cambridge University. Awards were given during the Closing Ceremony wherein our Year 6 IB pupil, Christian Lavett, attained the ‘MOST IMPROVED’ award amongst his fellow committee members, making us all extremely proud.
Through this unique experience, our pupils have not only gained newfound knowledge and debating skills but also new friendships and invaluable experiences away from home and their comfort zones, enhancing both their personal and academic development.
We look forward to our pupils’ participation in similar character-building events in the future.
