Lefkosia
November 2023
The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is a Youth-to-Youth organisation that takes place across Europe and its purpose is to gift our youth with a chance to speak their opinions through debating. In Cyprus, EYP has not only thrived but has also served as a source of inspiration for students, motivating them to take an active role in society. Many pupils, inspired by the tools they have obtained through their EYP experience, were encouraged to take the initiative in organizing their own Mini-Sessions through their school, further promoting the spirit of active civic involvement.
The EYP Team at PASCAL Private English School Lefkosia is currently gearing up for its own EYP Mini-Session, under the theme “The Power of Youth: Building a Brighter Future.” This exciting event is scheduled for November 25th, between 08:30 AM and 06:30 PM and it will bring together students from both private and public schools at the European University of Cyprus in Nicosia. They will delve into discussions encompassing the future of youth, education, and human rights.
The PASCAL team is looking forward to welcoming approximately 150 pupils from schools around Cyprus including PASCAL English School Limassol, PASCAL School Larnaca, Falcon School, Lykeio Latsion, Xenion School, English School, Foley’s School and G C School of Careers. The programme for the day will include an opening and a closing ceremony, a speech by the Minister of Justice, Mrs. Anna Prokopiou, lunch and coffee breaks and the General Assembly where the debating will take place.
The current generation is committed to enhancing their involvement and contribution to society in meaningful and unique ways. It is time that the youth of Cyprus demonstrate to the rest of the island that Cypriot youth possess a powerful voice and are actively using it to shape their perspectives on European matters. PASCAL Private English School Lefkosia envisions its Mini-Session as a platform to empower youth, cultivate active citizenship, and convey the idea that young people can indeed shape the future of their country.
